Sewer Leak Detection and Repair

If you leave a leak unchecked, it can cause devastating damage to your home. The water can create a void as it leaks out, washing dirt back into your sewer line. That void then fills with water, which can flush back up. Over time, this process creates a cavity under your house that can lead to serious foundation issues.

How We Find the Leak

When you suspect that you can have a sewer line leak, the first thing we do is what’s called a hydrostatic test. It’s when we put a test ball down into the main sewer line and fill it up under the house with water.

We bring your water up to a certain point on that clean out. We mark it and wait to see if it drops. If it does, the next step is to determine where that leak is under the house. We have a 75 foot test ball hose and 100 foot test ball hose that we can use to create air in the pipes to better determine how the water is behaving, which will tell us if there is a leak in that line.

The test hose also has a camera attached to it, which is how we’re able to be so accurate. Once we find the point with the leak, we’re able to mark it with a locator.

The most common leaks we find is in cast iron. Most of the time it’s cracked because cast iron is a about a 50 year life on it and, being underground, they tend to rust out on the bottom and crack.
